Rumah Haifa

"One of the best compliments for us as architects is coming back years later and finding the house looking even better than when it was first completed."

Rumah Haifa sits right beside the rice fields, so from the beginning we wanted the house to feel generous, bright, open to the landscape, and warm enough for daily family life. The pitched roof, stone, brick, timber, wide openings, and garden edges were arranged to make the house feel grounded: not too polished, not too distant from its surroundings.

What makes this house special is what happened after it was lived in. The owners continued the story through plants, small decorations, garden care, and everyday details that made the house grow more personal over time. It became not only a designed house, but a home that is constantly cared for.

Years later, the greenery is fuller, the corners feel softer, and the house has found its own rhythm. For us, that is the best version of architecture: when the people living in it make it better.
