Mosque · New Build
Set among the rice fields of Planggok, Seyegan, Sleman, Masjid Syuhada began with a familiar wish from the community: a village mosque with a quiet echo of Masjid Nabawi. For us, the challenge was not to copy it literally, but to translate that feeling into a scale and atmosphere that belong to its rural setting.
We worked with the dome, minaret, arches, calligraphy, and interior details to give the mosque a strong Islamic character, while keeping it close to the landscape around it. From inside, the prayer hall still opens visually to the surrounding fields.
As the mosque became active, people started to come, pray, take photos, and feel connected to it. Some of the images shared here were taken by visitors through Google Reviews, which makes the story even more meaningful for us. Over time, several details, doors, lighting, mihrab, and interior elements, were completed through the care of people who wanted to be part of the mosque’s journey.
